A Word from Karl:
"I got started in body building back in 1982. It began with my father bringing me to the weight room with him when I was 18 years old. Once I began it was like something took over my body. I did not and would not miss a workout."
"I competed in my first show in 1983 [3rd junior lightweight], in 1984 I competed at the Atlantic Championships. [1st junior lightweight]. From that point I continued to train hard but did not compete again until 1997. This was at the NS Provincial Championships where I competed as a middleweight [1st place]. in 1999 I competed in the same division and came second to a very good Dave Naugler. I moved up a weight division in 2000 [1st place light heavy weight]."
"I am presently getting ready for my first national show [light heavy weight]."
