NSABBA Weight Classes

The NSABBA weight classes for bodybuilding and fitness competitions usually comply with the regulations set by the IFBB.  However, we reserve the right to adjust classes (to ensure fairness) in the event that competitor numbers are low.

Senior Men's
Bantamweight:  up to and incl 65kg (143lbs)
Lightweight:  up to and incl 70kg (154lbs)
Welterweight:  up to and incl 75kg (165lbs) *
Light-Middleweight:  up to and incl 80kg (176lbs) **
Middleweight:  up to and incl 85kg (187lbs)
Light-heavyweight:  up to and incl 90kg (198lbs)
Heavyweight:  over 90kg (198lbs)

* Welterweight was added to the NSABBA class list in 2001.
** Light-middleweight was added to the NSABBA class list in 2004 (prior to this, the maximum weight for Middleweight was 176lbs. Middleweight from 2004 and upwards encompasses the lower half of the previous Light-heavyweight class (at 187lbs and under).

Senior Women's
Lightweight:  up to and incl 55kg (121 lbs)
Heavyweight:  over 55kg (121 lbs)

Junior Men's
Lightweight:  up to and incl 70kg (154lbs)
Middleweight:  up to and incl 80kg (176lbs)
Heavyweight:  over 80kg (176lbs)

Junior Women's
Women's junior classes follow the same guidelines as the senior women's.

Masters Men's
Competitors must be age 40 or older.

Masters Women's
Competitors must be age 35 or older.

Fitness & Figure Classes
If 2 classes are used:
Short Class:  up to and incl 162.5cm (~ 5' 4")
Tall Class:  over 162.5cm (~ 5' 4")

If 3 classes are used:
Short Class:  up to and incl 160cm (~ 5' 3")
Medium Class:  up to and incl 167cm (~ 5' 5¾")
Tall Class:  over 167cm (~ 5' 5½")
